Amazon has been in business for over a decade now and they have never made it to America’s top 100 companies. Now, they are the third most valuable company in the world and are making more than $2.7 trillion in revenue. They created this way of selling their products like anything else that you can easily do and make money off of. So what started as an idea to sell books on, quickly became popular amongst customers and is still growing throughout 2020! Amazon Dropshipping Vs. Direct-to-Consumer Selling (DTCS)
If I had to pick one “biggest mistake” it would be selling direct to consumers. This is not very different from regular online retailers selling through their own websites or app stores. These types of sales always come with a list of drawbacks, so this won’t be such a problem here at any point. There also will be opportunities when people decide to buy from different vendors and this will be done by using your own website and listing yourself on there, which means you are promoting yourself. In short, you only need to use Amazon to sell your items and it takes no longer than a few days for them to appear in stock! All these things are great when it comes down to it and I personally think it’s perfect for anyone wanting to start earning some extra cash.

How Does It Work?
Amazon makes sure that each vendor sells exactly everything they are able to. Everything is stored in a central location via Amazon’s servers and sold directly to the customer. When the customer purchases from Amazon the merchant is responsible for delivering the product to the client and if the purchase is not paid within 90 days of the purchase date then Amazon pays a charge to keep the inventory and shipping costs in order.
Amazon does not really take much care about logistics and this type of business is not very different from DTCS, however it is definitely different from dropshippers as they do not actually ship the product to the client but keeps it somewhere and waits for the customer to go pick it up. A lot of independent sellers make money out of Amazon and many choose to sell directly through them because they aren’t afraid to deal with large orders and they don’t get too many suppliers (like other retail sites). That being said I am not going to be speaking much about the advantages of Amazon vs. DTCS at first as Amazon has proven to be quite strong throughout 2020 and has been incredibly profitable! Regardless it should be noted though that even after these two giants announced new policies that allow people to sell directly themselves, Amazon still continues to grow big and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Keep in mind though, before starting your own business you always need to read reviews of everything and figure out what a reputable seller looks like. Also it may be better to look at competitors in the industry before getting into the field!
